The 12 Stations
The Twelve Stations of the Johannesweg
Hikers have warmly embraced the core philosophy of Johannesweg founder Dr. Johannes Neuhofer—escape the rat race and immerse yourself in nature—simply to unwind.
He aims to encourage hikers to reflect and motivate them to look forward with a positive outlook. Across 12 stations, insights and words of wisdom are shared to strengthen both physical and mental well-being.
Patience, humor, generosity, and helpfulness—these are just a few of the positive qualities highlighted along the Johannesweg.
“Finis terrae” – the final stop and a place of power by the water rock
An impressive rock formation at the water cliff next to the Naarn invites you to recharge your batteries and take a moment to pause before
the trail continues on to Pierbach.
After the hike along the Johannesweg, you return to the starting point with many impressions. You should allow some extra time here to make the pilgrimage to the final stop, the “Finis terrae” at the Peace Cross above the center of Pierbach. A mix of reflective surfaces and vistas allows everything to come together once more. Hikers now have the opportunity to reflect on their experiences and take their insights home with them.
“A Place for Reflection” on Johannesweg in Kaltenberg
The “Reflection Corner” gives us the chance to think about what the future might look like!
Here in the Mühlviertel region, we are still blessed with healthy soil, clean air, and fresh, pure spring water.
A newly built small dry-stone wall with built-in windows makes both sides visually apparent.
When you open the shutters, you see yourself in the mirror.
On the south side of the wall, you have a magnificent view of the Kalkalpen—sunny, bright, friendly, a livable environment.
On the north side, you are confronted with the opposite—a depiction of what happens if we continue to plunder the earth, pollute the oceans, and further destroy our environment with fossil and nuclear energy.
